Become A Foster Parent

All children need a safe, stable and secure environment to grown and learn. Many of the children that will become residents of The Secret Place Home, will need a loving family to receive them after their stay with us. Having the right foster care parents to receive these children, is not only important, it is necessary for their journey of healing to continue.

These residents often will often have increased emotional, behavioral, or social needs, due to the trauma they have experienced, therefore a therapeutic foster care home is crucial next step. These homes provide a place where they can receive more intensive support, structured supervision and professional interventions compared to the traditional foster care setting. Most importantly, therapeutic foster parents help youth heal and realize their true potential. THE NEED

In Northwest Florida, nearly 500 children in foster care need such a place to feel protected and cared for. They are victims of abuse, abandonment or neglect. The children have been removed from their homes in an effort to assure their safety. Some children are in need of short-term shelter care placements, while others need longer term foster care placements. The children range in age from newborns to 17 years old, either gender, and all races. (Taken from Families First Network)
